This painting originally started with a photograph of times square. After about 15 hours this is what I ended up with. I want for a warm versus cool and a detailed vs non detailed look to really bring out the center rock piece.

This is a 4 hour lighting study I did with the theme industrialism. I like creating contrast, in this case I tried to implement that by taking gritty industrialism versus soft lighting.

I used the smoke filling the street as a means of camouflaging the actual event that is causing the smoke. Composition and atmosphere played a big part.
